In German 2B, students will continue their language-learning journey by communicating about themselves and others in various formats and expanding their view of German culture and community. Students will learn to communicate about their homes and hometowns, ask and answer questions about their communities and German communities, explore ways people earn and spend money across cultures, demonstrate a shopping interaction, find ways to connect with nature and protect the environment, look at different types of media and pop culture and your habits surrounding those, and create and share goals surrounding German usage in the future. The class takes a highly communicative approach and utilizes the 5 C’s of language learning – communication, cultures, connections, comparisons, and communities with grammar being learned indirectly through various activities. Throughout the 8 units, students’ language learning is guided by Can Do statements that focus on specific language abilities, such as “I can introduce myself and get to know others in a written conversation.”
