Course Description: ¡Bienvenidos a la clase de Español! This is a communicative beginning high-school level Spanish course that introduces the basics of communication, including grammar and vocabulary. You will begin developing your Spanish proficiency online through audio, video, and text.

¡Bienvenidos a la clase de Español! This is a communicative beginning high-school level Spanish course that introduces the basics of communication, including grammar and vocabulary. You will begin developing your Spanish proficiency online through audio, video, and text.

Unit 1: Las Introducciones – In this unit, you will be introduced to the Spanish alphabet “El Alfabeto”. You will learn basic words and phrases for meeting people and getting acquainted. You will also learn the Spanish names for a few countries and words that refer to nationality.

Unit 2: Las Fechas y Las Actividades – In this unit, you will learn to talk about calendar dates, how old you are, and what you do and don’t like to do.

Unit 3: Los Horarios – In this unit, you will learn to talk about school schedules and to tell time.

Unit 4: En la Escuela – In this unit you will learn to use Spanish verbs in the present tense, you will learn to discuss location of objects, and you will learn names of objects commonly found in the classroom.

Unit 5: La Casa – In this unit you will learn to exchange telephone numbers and addresses. You will also learn to describe your home and the rooms in it.

Unit 6: Los Cuartos de la Casa – In this unit you will learn to describe the rooms in a house and the items commonly found in them. You will also learn some verbs that are used to talk about the activities that typically take place in each room.

Unit 7: Los Miembros de la Familia – In this unit you will learn to talk about your who your family members are, what they are like, and how old they are.

Unit 8: Los Cumpleaños y Las Profesiones – In this unit you will learn to talk about birthdays and professions. You will also learn more about the uses of the verbs SER and ESTAR and how to determine when to use each one.

Prerequisites: NONE

Compatibility: This course is Chromebook compatible.

Required textbooks and resources: There is no textbook required for this class. All required resources are available through the online course. Speakers and a microphone are required to participate in our voice assignments and to communicate online in Spanish with your classmates. Each unit contains graphics and sound.
