This course covers the foundational “practice of seeing” and eye-hand coordination, the mechanics of light and value, and three-dimensional shading techniques. Students will learn how to use perspective, composition, and framing principles (such as symmetry and the Rule of Thirds), and they will practice control of drawing tools to create implied texture and detail. They will explore the visual translation of sensory experiences like synesthesia and music, the ethical boundaries of artistic influence and creative risk, and the synthesis of technical drawing skills with personal voice and style.
