Astronomy

Astronomy is designed to expose the student to the scientific study of the Earth and the known universe. Students will learn how experimentation and observation are used to gain knowledge about the Earth, the Solar System and the Universe. Topics to be covered are the history of Astronomy, our Solar System, the Sun-Earth-Moon relationships, Light, Stars, Galaxies, Space Exploration and current scientific beliefs about the history of the formation of the Universe. This course will incorporate labs and activities for every unit to deepen student understanding of abstract topics. This course does satisfy the state requirement for credit in a lab science.
Idaho Lab Science Requirement: This course fulfills the lab science requirement by the State of Idaho in that there are weekly opportunities to manipulate equipment, materials, specimens or develop skills in observation and analysis and discover, demonstrate, illustrate or test scientific principles or concepts.
