Dual Credit Calculus A (CSI)

The Dual Calculus course is a two semester course equivalent to a college level calculus course. Students enrolled in the Dual Credit course will earn college credits from College of Southern Idaho. Students must enroll in both
DC Calculus A and DC Calculus B to earn credit from CSI.
Over the course of
DC Calculus A and DC Calculus B to earn credit from CSI.
Over the course of
both semesters (DC Calculus A and DC Calculus B) the course will cover algebraic and
transcendental functions, rates of change, limits, continuity, differentiation of algebraic,
trigonometric, exponential, logarithmic, and hyperbolic functions and their inverses,
L’Hospital’s rule, differentials, various applications of differentiation including
optimization, motion, and related-rate problems, definite and indefinite integrals, area
between curves, volumes of solids, and various other applications of integration.
MATH 170 is the first course in the calculus sequence, and is the foundational course
for most of the mathematics courses studied at the university level. This course is
designed for students majoring in the mathematical and physical sciences, engineering,
or mathematics education. The mastery of calculus requires well-developed skills, clear
conceptual understanding, and the ability to think critically.
