English 7A

This course covers the elements that make texts more complex and interesting to readers. During this unit, students will read the novel The Outsiders where they will make inferences, talk about bullying, and how the author made the reading more meaningful through the use of symbols and allusions. Students will learn how to write complex texts and to effectively read a drama. Students will dive into stereotypes and media biases that influence the way others view certain groups of people. They will complete an autobiography of themselves and a family tree describing who they consider to be important members of their own family. They will also complete a biography of someone else by conducting their own research of that person. They will also create an advertisement in a style of their choice as well as a recording of a play they have changed to fit their style. This course is a Quality Matters certified online course.
