As the Superintendent of the Idaho Digital Learning Alliance (IDLA), I appreciate the schools and families who have chosen IDLA as an online learning option for their children over the past 23 years. We take your trust in us seriously and work hard to provide each child in our program with the quality online learning experience they deserve. We also appreciate the support of Idaho taxpayers and legislators who have invested in our program, enabling us to meet the needs of Idaho schools and students.

Idaho families have many choices available to them for their children. Families choosing to enroll their students in our program are deciding to provide Idaho-specific, high-quality online learning courses for their students. Let me share a little of what makes IDLA’s program a good choice for families.

By Idaho For Idaho

IDLA is funded by the Idaho legislature. We employ Idaho educators to develop online curriculum that only represents Idaho content standards and values. All courses offered by IDLA are taught by a resident, Idaho-certified teacher with oversight from a resident, Idaho-certified principal. Tax dollars invested in IDLA stay in Idaho, but more importantly, IDLA is an Idaho institution. Our employees live in the same communities, share the same values, and don’t represent the interests of out-of-state corporations that provide other online learning opportunities for Idaho families.

Quality

The recent OPE report on the Idaho Home Learning Academy (IHLA), not to be confused with IDLA, highlights the challenges associated with out-of-state corporations selling out-of-state solutions to Idaho families. Private providers of online learning are businesses with a primary goal of profit, with students as a secondary consideration. IDLA’s goals are focused on Idaho and its students.

At IDLA, we have built our program to nationally recognized standards for quality. We have received multiple awards for quality curriculum and innovative technology. We have high expectations for teachers and use regular oversight to ensure our teaching meets the expectations you have for your child.

How do students perform in our classes? During the 2024-2025 school year, 91% of students enrolled in an IDLA class completed the course with a passing grade. College-bound students taking dual credit courses finished the school year with a 96% pass rate, while 90% of students who made up a failed course were able to earn a passing grade in our Credit Recovery options. Students in the IDLA program also reported having a quality experience in their course.

Parent as a Partner

We understand parents are a critical partner in their child’s education. To engage parents and include them in the learning process, IDLA has created a parent app. Our parent app provides each parent with real-time data about their student’s progress, opportunities for the student to improve, and tips on how they can support their child.
Families in Idaho are fortunate to have many choices for their children’s education. At IDLA, we take pride in being the local, quality, and accountable choice for children. IDLA courses are available to all students in Idaho.
