At IDLA, learning has never been limited to our students. We believe that growth is a lifelong journey, and that includes the people who make our mission possible every day. Through iDigFitness, IDLA employees are invited to invest in something just as important as professional development: their own well-being.
Supported by IDLA leadership, iDigFitness is built on a simple idea. When we take care of our physical, emotional, mental, and social health, we are better equipped to serve our students, support our colleagues, and strengthen our communities. Wellness isn’t just about exercise. It’s about creating habits that help us show up as our best selves, both at work and at home.
True to the IDLA spirit, iDigFitness is organized much like one of our own online courses. Every IDLA employee is welcome to enroll and participate in monthly lessons, activities, and challenges designed to encourage healthy living in a flexible, supportive environment. There are no grades or deadlines. Instead, participants discover new ideas, celebrate milestones together, and encourage one another along the way. Whether someone is taking their first walk around the block or training for a personal goal, everyone is welcome.
Throughout the year, the program offers a variety of opportunities to engage. Employees have participated in community 5K walks, explored new perspectives through growth-focused book clubs, shared healthy recipes, practiced mindfulness, and completed monthly wellness challenges that make healthy habits fun and achievable. The variety ensures there is something for every interest and every fitness level.
This summer, participants are taking on the annual Stride Idaho Challenge for its 5th year. Employees track their walking, running, hiking, and other activities to see how far they can collectively travel across the Gem State. Some are aiming to stride the length of Idaho from north to south. Others are working toward crossing the state’s impressive width. Every mile logged contributes to a shared goal, reminding us that while we may work from different communities across Idaho, we’re all moving forward together.
Perhaps the greatest strength of iDigFitness is the connections it creates. In a statewide organization where colleagues may never share the same office, wellness challenges become opportunities to cheer each other on, exchange encouragement, and celebrate successes large and small. Those relationships build a stronger workplace culture and reinforce the sense of community that defines IDLA.
At its heart, iDigFitness reflects the same values that guide everything we do: learning, growth, collaboration, and support. By investing in the health of our employees, IDLA is investing in the future of our students, our schools, and the communities we serve. Because when our people thrive, everyone benefits.
